The 2026 T20 World Cup introduces three structural changes from the 2024 edition. Change one: the tournament expands from 20 to 24 teams, adding Nepal, Oman, and Uganda to the qualifiers. Change two: the Super 8 stage is replaced with a Super 12 format (4 groups of 3, top 2 from each advance to the quarter-finals). Change three: the DLS method is replaced with a new rain-rule calculation that the ICC published in February 2026.
These changes shift the fantasy strategy in three ways. The 24-team format means more associate-nation matches in the group stage, which are higher-variance for fantasy contests. The Super 12 format compresses the knockout stage, which means one bad match is elimination.
